VICTORIA HOFFMAN

Victoria is a Los Angeles based Actor, Casting Director, Director, Professor and Producer. She received her MFA in Acting and Directing from UMKC, in conjunction with Kansas City Rep, and is the Resident Casting Director at the multi award winning Rogue Machine Theatre.

 

Prolific  in the LA Theatre community, she has also cast projects at Boston Court Pasadena (the sold out run of Streetcar Named Desire and The Judas Kiss), A Noise Within (Frankenstein, A Picture of Dorian Grey, Othello), The Greenway Court (Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Nighttime, Herland), and The New American Theatre (Boxing Lessons).

 

Short film projects include the USC Thesis Films FALLING, an official selection at the Slamdance Film Festival (among many!) and Goldfish. She got her start in Commercial and Voiceover Casting, with a particular passion for voiceover casting session direction. Currently the Manager of Casting at the AFI Conservatory, she oversees campus wide casting needs for the first year MFA cycle films, for classroom exercises and table reads, and consults on thesis film casting.

 

As a director, she recently won an Encore Producer’s award for her production of Acid Wash Love in the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival. She has helmed 4 installments of Around the Clock, the 24 hour shorts festival at Rogue Machine Theatre (virtual versions as well), and she was the Assistant Director on RMT’s “Best Of” Fringe entry, In The Valley of the Shadow, alongside Elina de Santos.

 

At Pasadena City College, where she is an Adjunct Professor of Theatre & Film, she directed David Ives’ All in the Timing, and most recently, David Hirson’s La Bête. She has also directed and/or produced three  5 minute Oscar film parodies for an event known as The TOSCARS, produced by Brits in LA: Hidden Spaces (from Hidden Figures), winner of Best Director, Best Writer, and Best Actress awards; The Shade of Aqua (from The Shape of Water) winner of a Best Editing award; and Coma (from Roma), which swept the 2019 TOSCARS awards, winning Best Picture, Best Actress (for Victoria!), Best Directing, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.

 

As an actor, Victoria had the honor, the joy, the excitement of debuting with The Troubadour Theatre Company (a Troubie Newbie!) as Portia in their production of Julius Weezer. Local faves include Noël Coward’s The Vortex at Malibu Playhouse & The Matrix, Nick Salamone’s critically acclaimed The Sonneteer at LA Gay & Lesbian Center, I Love Lucy Live @ Greenway Court, and Twelfth Night (directed by Armin Shimerman) for WEHO Shakespeare in the Parks. Regional highlights include: A Christmas Carol @ Kodak Theatre with Christopher Lloyd & John Goodman, Charley Bacon with Tony Plana at South Coast Repertory, Tartuffe and Crimes of the Heart at Kansas City Rep.

 

She is, as well, active in the on camera and voiceover worlds. Psychonauts fans will remember her as the voice of Elka Doom. Most recently, you may have seen her on Ryan Murphy’s AHS 1984. Blood might have been present.
